Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye to our friends, family and home

Saying goodbye can be easy and difficult at the same time. Thinking about this place and all of the people we've met and connected with over the years brings a smile to my face. Thinking about the fact that Gabby's spent her entire life here, and we're leaving the only place she's ever called home, brings a tear to my eye. I've watched her transform over the years into such an amazing young woman. I went to school here, battled cancer, had a farm, fell in love and met so many amazing people. It's not just the people that were hard to leave behind, but also all of our fur babies. Perhaps the hardest thing to say goodbye to is all of our plans and dreams for the years ahead.

I think about Gabby and how far along she came from the timid child I once knew. She got into theater and had a supporting role in the school's play. She competed in theater competitions. She was excited for next year's shows and to walk at graduation. We had plans for upgrading our farm and start a community garden for those in need. I had plans to go to festivals with friends and to drag my sister along with me on whatever crazy adventure popped up on my feed, once the weather warmed up. So here we are, saying goodbye to the life we had planned. Saying goodbye to life we thought we knew.

While there have been a lot of tears, and saying goodbye to those who I wasn't ready to leave, I'm excited for this next adventure. Gabby and I know that this isn't a new chapter, but a whole new book in the series that is our life. We hope that those who we've said farewell to, will follow us on our journey and know that even if our paths do not cross again in the future, that we will carry with us our memories of you.
